I went to Blackbird in 2016 for New Years Eve which is home base for James Beard winning chef Paul Kahan. We had a 5 course meal that was a spectacular twist on a fancy farm house American meal. The ingredients were typical for a menu you would see in Chicago but the way they are served is so much more. They showcase farm-fresh ingredients to create a menu both classic and utterly approachable.
The fixed meal on a normal day is going to cost you $130 with a $70 wine pairing which is quite expensive for Chicago. The meal was fantastic however may not be worth the price. Go for the lunch Prix Fix menu when you can for $25 per person or try to go during restaurant week.
